HISTORY:

David E. Paul was a visionary.

Along with his wife, Marcella, and daughter, Melody, he foresaw the potential for growth along the Colorado River at the convergence of the states of Arizona, California and Nevada. In 1973, they purchased Sommerville Building Materials at 1420 Camp Mohave Road in Fort Mojave, Arizona, and renamed the business Tri-State Building Materials. It consisted of one small building and a 2-acre lumberyard. With the growth of the area, Tri-State soon outgrew its original location, and in 1985 broke ground for a larger building around the corner" at 4515 Highway 95. The lumberyard was also expanded and Ace Contractor Center and Ace Commercial and Industrial Sales divisions were added. Tri-State acquired its second location with the purchase of an existing Ace store in Bullhead City in 1989. Tri-State Ace Home Center was moved to its present 30,000 sq. ft. location at 967 Hancock Road in 1992. Collectively, the two stores occupy over 50,000 sq. ft. of retail space and a 5-acre lumberyard.

As a family-owned corporation, our board of directors is ever mindful of my dad's vision for our company," said Michael Paul, son of founders David and Marcella and CEO of Tri-State. "We've grown as the community's grown. We've seen lots of changes over the years we've been in business and I'm sure we'll see many more. I just wish my dad was here to share that with us."
